since the Packers' season is done after yesterday's fiasco, let's focus on Wisky BB....it's early yet, but I see about 16 victories this year, I can't see them winning too many games on the road in the b10 this year...might be ugly

Here is the latest from the Big Ten.....

Six different Big Ten teams ranked among nation’s top 25 in preseason polls for the first time in two decades.
Eighteen All-Big Ten selections from last year return in 2009, including all five first-team members.
For the third straight year, every home game will be distributed, with almost all appearing on national television.
The Big Ten has eight players on the preseason Wooden Award Watch list.
Twenty-two of the top 30 scorers return to the court, including the top six.

The starting five has been JBO, Hughes, Jarmusz, Nankivil, and Leuer....with heavy substituting by Bo with Taylor, Evans, Wilson, Bergren, Brusewitz, coming of the bench...

NOTE OF THE DAY

Trévon Hughes made his first career start in 2007 vs. IPFW, scoring a game-high 25 points while adding five rebounds and five assists. Four other current Badgers saw action in that game: Jason Bohannon, J.P. Gavinski, Jon Leuer and Keaton Nankivil.

I love Bo Ryan as a Coach, but I think it is safe to say they wil never be a true contender for a national title because he has never been able to recruit the type of players it takes. He is a guy that does more with less, and I think he'll always have good to very good clubs because of that. I just think that the talent level of his kids even next to the top tier (top 4) in the Big 10 is not favorable.

To answer my own question- Yes, but I still am happy with Bo as Coach. For what he has done, he gets a lifetime pass in my book. I just don't think they will ever truley make a serious run for a title, and I guess I am OK with that. The only difference being that they will no longer play for Big 10 titles, more for getting into the tourney as a 7 or 8 seed- that will be the high watermark.

The Badgers only other meeting with UW-Superior was a 28-7 win on March, 7, 1903 in Superior. UW-Superior was known as Wisconsin Normal School at that time.

Since 2004, Wisconsin has been playing a member of the WIAC conference during its exhibition schedule. After the Badgers host UW-Superior this Wednesday, they will have played six of the nine teams from that conference. i hate polls, especially pre-season polls, but UW didn't receive a single vote. I think not being in the spotlight or having high media expectations put on the team, this will help the team deal with the Blue incident and move forward.

First time since at least '02 that UW hasn't received at least some votes during the pre-season.

Landry earns a spot on Knicks roster

The Knicks set their regular season roster four days before it was due to the NBA. It looks as if undrafted rookie Marcus Landry, who literally paid his own way to the MSG Training Center in September to get into workouts with the players and earn an invite to training camp, has made the team.

Guard Joe Crawford and center Chris Hunter, two 10-day contract players from the end of last season, were waived this morning.

What's curious about the decision to waive both Crawford and Hunter is that it leaves the Knicks with 13 healthy players on the roster. Cuttino Mobley, who retired last year because of a heart condition, is technically still on the roster, but it leaves an opening. But before we speculate about any late additions, Mike D'Antoni, who will play a maximum 9-man rotation most nights, has said he doesn't want to carry a full 15-man roster this season.

We did a story on Marcus in the Wednesday editions of Newsday and he discussed what it would mean to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Carl, who is a forward with the Houston Rockets.

The Knicks, who finished 5-2 in the preseason, were off from practice today and will return to the court tomorrow to begin preparing for next Wednesday's season opener in Miami.

NOTE OF THE DAY

Senior guards Trevon Hughes and Jason Bohannon are poised to become the newest members of Wisconsin’s 1,000-point club. Hughes needs just 166 points and Bohannon needs 214 points. The last time UW had two 1,000-point scorers on the same team was 2006-07 when Alando Tucker finished his career with 2,217 points and Kammron Taylor scored 1,223 career points.

I know the Big Ten is just coming into the "heart of it's football schedule", but this is also about the time I start getting an itch for some Badger Hoops news, and hopefully it's not about someone robbing some dorm room.

Now, I can only suspect that Wisconsin will be better than last year, what makes this year so interesting is they should arguably be deeper at the guard position ( with quality athletes, plus a couple of new quality "bigs") than anytime I can remember in many, many years, and I think that could make a big difference.
