Richard Pardee was fishing near Supple's Marsh on the Fond du Lac side of Lake Winnebago when he said he thought he hooked a bluegill.

It turned out the foot-long gray creature he hooked wasn't a bluegill, but a piranha.

Pardee is keeping the piranha on ice at his house.

"I was quite shocked. You know, I was expecting one thing and got another. I'm sure if you would have had the camera on me that day, my eyes would have been about this big," Pardee said.

Piranhas are native to South America and not likely to survive a Wisconsin winter.

Department of Natural Resources agents said the fish was likely someone's pet that was dumped in the lake.

Fishing contest

if we held a fishing photo contest, would anyone out there enter?

just checking

just wanted to see if this blog site worked.

Our goal is to provide the ultimate website for the Wisconsin Sports Fan. Feel free to look around, kick the tires and get a good feel for the site. If you see a discussion you want to jump in on, feel free to step up onto the soap box and add your two cents worth.

While we do want you to say what you want and have some fun, we do have a few guidelines….

Foul language, personal attacks, accusations, sexually explicit items or any other things that we feel cross the line of good taste will not be tolerated.
