2 of the 3 pitchers have eras over 4, that means theyll shut down the brewers offense.

Can someone please try to be objective and tell me how those 6 Dodger runs scored?

    I would appreciate it.

    Sheets lost it.

Lead off HR, out recorded, HR, and then a triple, infield brought in, single scored third run. Then in the span of four more pitches, Sheets gave up another hit and a hanging curve HR to Bennett.

This all occurred a span of 10 pitches from the first out being recorded. That's 5 runs in 10 pitches.

That's brutal.  Was he fatigued or just lost it.  Or -- gulp! -- something wrong with his arm?

In any case, I was  stunned:  I went into my 2pm meeting with it tied at zero and  Ben cruising and I came back and found a 7-2 thumping an hour later.  Amazing.

It's hard to speculate that. He had his highest radar readings during those moments.

I think he just lost it. As I mentioned earlier, Sheets' greatest virtue, which is working quickly and throwing strikes, is also detrimental when he goes through a rough stretch.

Wow, could the pitching matchups be anymore lopsided in favor of the Red Sox going into that series this weekend? I'll be very surprised if the Brewers win more than 1 game. I have the feeling they'llget swept.

I think they could be -- Dice K/Soup isn't that bad, Wake/Bush is okay, and CV/Bekcett is the toughest.

It's not a great series match-up, but somehow I get the idea that it could be worse.

Could get ugly in Bos.  Wakefield if he is on will be a tough pitcher for the free swingers we have.

Why is that, anyway? Do the Cubs not have message boards? It's easy to go onto a rival's message board and talk your team up when they're playing well. But like Marty Brennemann said, "At the end of the day, they're still the Chicago Cubs. They will find a way to screw this up". Amen, brother.

Yes, the Cubs do have message boards and I frequent them as well but living in the Milwaukee area, I follow how the Brewers are doing as well and like to talk baseball with intelligent Brewer fans about both teams because it's nice to get a different perspective.  The problem is when you're looking for intelligent conversations and you run into the blind ANTI-CUB anything idiots like yourself that can't even carry on a conversation without taking their shots.  So you and Marty Brennemann sit home and root against us all year, and then have a champagne toast if we lose in the playoffs, because last I checked, the Reds nor Brewers have a wide open schedule again in October... because I'd rather screw up in October than July.

You're not kidding. I love the guy for his patience, but you can only go on "he sees a lot of pitches" as a positive for so long.

Maybe he can "Slappy it back to the pitcher?"   Or, steal first????????     He has "TREMENDOUS" potential according to the SABR folks ya know.    Ha ha ha ha .......    ;)

Slappy Gwynn with a nice slappy little slap to the pitcher.

If only one could steal first.

I have a team working on this problem as we speak.  I am looking forward to their report.

And what "shots" do I take? Just because I am bearish on the Cubs (no pun intended) doesn't make my opinions any less intelligent than somebody who thinks Fukudome and Soto can keep this up or that the Cubs' pitching staff is good enough to carry them past the 1st round of the playoffs. I've never taken a shot at you (other than maybe calling you a troll).

The "shots" saying how the whole offense overrated, the pitching is not good enough, and even if it is they'll lose in the playoffs... I mean it is just taking blind shots, or as you say, being "bearish".  I just think it's kind of dillusional considering the way they're rolling teams right now but you're entitled to your opinion.

Well at least you can admit that now! That's a step in the right direction. Time will tell if I'm the one being delusional or if you are by thinking they'll continue to "roll" teams. I remember another team that looked awfully good at this time last year...

Re: 5/15 Game Thread - Sheets vs Billingsly

I know they are going have some road bumps along the way (lost 3 straight series just a week ago) but I just think they have too much talent in comparison with anyone else in the division to be overtaken... but that's just my opinion, again.  It's a long season and there are injuries and a lot of baseball to go.  It just seems to me that you refuse to acknowledge or credit the Cub players when it is undeniable the job most are doing to this point... if you think they're going to collapse, that's fine, but it would me be unreal to see 1/2 the team take a dive as you suggest.
