That works too.
The guy is a K machine, 28 in 23 innings so far and only one walk!
If you want a darkhorse close cannidate, there he is.
I should have thought about him, because he and Dillard would both make sense.

JIm Edmonds actually cracked the Top 6 of the Cubs' order.

Billingsly is filthy Radio.
His stuff is just flat out nasty.
Fielder gave that one a nice little ride.

Speaking of K Machine, I should close the window here at the office...I can feel the breeze from Miller Park all the way downtown!

To those watching the game, is Billingsley really throwing two breaking balls?
MLB GameDay has him throwing a curveball and a slider.
But his fastball must be especially nasty -- that seems to be his big strike out pitch right now...

Man, when was the last time Sheets was this "on"?
He really had it last start against the Cards, too, but it looks like he's refined his game even further.
Offer this man an extenion, Melvin. 2/$40 million.

Sheets, Billingsley and Volquez are the reason I'm going to run away with the K total in our fantasy league. You guys are lucky Smoltz is getting moved to the pen when he returns.
Baseball is a game of the long season, of relentless and gradual averaging-out. Irrelevance—since the reference point of most individual games is remote and statistical—always threatens its interest, which can be maintained not by the occasional heroics that sportswriters feed upon but by players who always care; who care, that is to say, about themselves and their art. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, he is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

There we go....
Now they need to find a way to scratch one across on Billingsley.

Re: 5/15 Game Thread - Sheets vs Billingsly
I predicted Sheets pitches well and the Brewers bats go silent and they lose... we'll see... Not looking good right now. 2 runs could win this if Sheets can pitch a complete game.
No matter who is in there, we have to find a way to throw the ball better for us to have success. I think when you are constantly behind in games, it is not easy and it is not fun. Their starting pitcher was clearly better than ours this series.

Re: 5/15 Game Thread - Sheets vs Billingsly
Damn, Sheets is just in command today. I absolutely love to see him strike out and GIDP in the same start.
BTW, his last start started an unprecedented performance in his career where he had double the ground outs and struck out a bunch, too (he had 10 GO, 5 AO, and 6 K...)

2/40 is a bit high.
I would be OK with 2/35 or so, but I know there is no way he takes that.

I'll trade you Dan Uggla for Edinson Volquez :-D
Oh, I'll throw in some cash, too, Mr. Beane.
