BrewerTron:• Brewers' scouting director Jack Zdurencik reportedly skipped all conference tournaments to go sit on Salisbury (Conn.) prep shortstop Anthony Hewitt. Hewitt, a Vanderbilt recruit, has above-average tools, but was terrible last summer in various wood-bat showcases.
That would seem to be a strong indicator, wouldn't it?
Jack Z plays his cards closer to the vest than most, so there is a good chance this is nothing.....
As for the idea of taking a guy with above average tools who had trouble with the wood bat, I think their reputation for drafting good bats allows me to put faith in the fact that they see something and it will likely work out.
"Melvin may have gotten this franchise out of a hole, but it is painfully clear that this clown cannot build a playoff team. How many more years are you willing to let Melvin continue to trot a team that has no plate disipline, bad basrunning, bad late inning pitching, and contiually chokes when its on the line? Melvin has no clue when it comes to hitters and it shows. Melvin must go if this team is to ever makes the playoffs again.:"
