I do like an umpire who's not afraid to ring somebody up.  Especially the home team

That 3rd pitch to the 3rd batter was the same f'n pitch for the 2nd pitch to the 2nd batter and this one is a strike, that one was not.  CONSISTENCY PLEASE!!!

The pitches are close but debatable.  My problem is the ump pulling a Lt. Frank Drevin behind the plate for each strike.

    willie key:

Fielder is not the best hitter on this team.  He is supposed to drive in runs and he doesnt do it.  Its pretty much appaling.  What is his avg with RISP?

    In his career:

    Fielder overall: (.277/.366/.533/.899)

    Fielder RISP: (.261/.391/.445/.837)

As happens with most hitters, especially those with prodigious power, his batting average and slugging drop with RISP, because teams very often will not give him a pitch to hit in those situations. Evidence of that is the significant jump in his OBP.

He needs to be a bit more selective, because he is prone to trying to hit balls out of the zone from time to time in RISP situations, instead of just taking the walk being given to him. To me, that is understandable when talking about a young player who wants to do everything he can to help his team win. In the end, I'm sure he'll figure it out and get even better.

But as it stands, it's not like this is a giant problem.

Fielder is the best hitter on this team, period.

D-Backs have to be getting really frustrated with their RISP problem.

Gee, I really do hate umpires.

I complain about it when things go badly for the team, and people think it's an "excuse" but when things are going well, I'm one of the voices in the crowd.

Russell hasn't been swinging the bat well as of late.  The honeymoon period is over for him, I think.  I don't think he'll be abysmal, but hell just be OK.

Parra's biggest problem is finishing, both innings and hitters.  Once he figures this out, he will be a good #2.

I usually do not care about umpires, however we are facing Webb (an ace) and it appears that he is getting much more than Parra (rookie).

There five guys on the team with better OPS on this team than Fielder.  Dont fool yourself about RISP, they are pitching to him because there is a "better" hitter behind him,  he's just doing nothing with it.  I like Fielder and I think he's a helluva player, but I am not going to be blinded by his "name" He is not the best hitter on the team
