I have never liked Aaron Rodgers, I think he is a Randy Wright kind of player, and I think the Favre trade was awful. This game was much more than that though. Offensive line played as though they don't think they can win with Rodgers. Team has absolutely no chemistry, recievers not getting open and on defense they could not tackle. This is where will see if Mccarthy is a good coach, it is easy to win when everything goes your way, but when things get tough we will see if Pack collapses or grows. Sometimes on teams that don't think they can win the veterans just go through the motions and do not play hard, I worry that is what the Packers veterans are doing now. I do think this Broncos game is now very important, if they get hammered again, it will be a very long season
I would say that we'll also see whether the fans collapse or grow. If things don't go well early for the Packers, the ominous drumbeat of "fans" informing the rest of us that they are done with the organization will increase. It is a two way street. It's easy to cheer for a team when things are going one's way. I still believe in the team and I direct my comment not at either of you 2 guys, but at the posters that are sure to make haste to let one and all know they are done following the team.... again and again and again.
Regardless of what the season holds in store, I'll be a Packer fan until they box me up.

It's about as important as a preseason game could possibly be. This team arguably grossly overachieved last season, and if not for some late game heroics (SD, KC, Den, Wash, Phi) and Favre carrying the offense early on, this team was a .500 team. I think we're looking at something closer to 8 wins than 13.

Even in preseason, its really hard to get blown out by the lowly 49ers unless you really are THAT bad. There just isn't any way around that. 3 turnovers, a weak passing game, horrible 3rd down efficiency. Rodgers could not move the ball against the dregs of the league's defense. The Pack early on have some of the lowest point totals in the league. Right now, the Pack is on the level of the Atlanta falcons, however the Falcons actually have a decent offense moving the ball. The funny thing is, even with the O-line holding, Rodgers got sacked 4 times.
C.U.@summerfest. Geddy is a Brewer fan too.

Yep, we should just cancel the season right now. F u c k it. Its over. Screw it, anyone ready for the draft?
I'm ready for a different chance, I've seen his show for a decade, and it's gotten old, and every episode ends the same, with the gun slinger shooting the wrong guy. -aegisfc August 2008
"If Brett is not the starting QB for the Packers next season I will not support the Packers. If Brett joins another team including both the hated Bears and Vikings, I will support them. I will not be Packer Fan again til Ted Thompson and Mark Murphy are fired. Which wont be long after that cuz out team will fall apart and all out good players will want out of Dodge.I'd rather have Mike Sherman, Ray Rhodes, Lindy Infante or any other old Packer's Brass before rooting for team run by arrogant ungrateful ingrates. At least they were trying to to what was best for the team. Not what is best for the egos." Ace_Maverick July 2008

First thought is that 3-4 games into the reg season, nobody will have the vaguest memory of any of these preseason games. Second, AR is not one of the primary problems with the results (that probably don't matter) so far. Packer receivers have dropped almost every clutch toss for lots of yards and a couple of td's. I think it's just bad focus and will return to the norm. I don't like the D so far either. I thought they were so good that 80% effort would have them looking stout.
Anyway, tempting as it is, don't fall for the sucker play of drawing conclusions from preseason games.

Tampa is correct. The Packers had 5 days to prepare for this and obviously didn't game plan a lick. The 49ers threw the kitchen sink at them up front and combine that with a lackluster effort from the OL, the results were predictable. We did the same thing to Seattle last yr in preseason Week 2. Do you really think that McCarthy would have totally abandoned the run in a regular season game? He wanted to work on some things and put some stuff on film so that he and his staff would have some coaching material to use this week. Camp is probably starting to get a little mundane, and now the coaching staff has a reason to kick some azz this week. Not a bad thing at this point in the preseason. I would expect a much better showing against Denver.

Again, someone spewing what not they know. The Packers prepared heavily for this opponent...in fact, according to Bedard, disproportionately so for a second preseason game. Please, don't just post jibberish.
"Do you really think that McCarthy would have totally abandoned the run in a regular season game?" LOL...are you for real? No, he just saves that for conf championship games. How many times did he abandon the run game last year?
We all better hope for a much better showing against Den...the traditional reg season primer.

We don't have to canx season, management already did. If I was a Green Bay Packer who has played 8 years in this league and had not won a superbowl, I would be ticked at taking away my best chance to win superbowl.
yup....
Driver is looking a tad bit frustrated these days.....

Driver should be frustrated. He hasn't played all that well in either pre-season game thus far. I thought he was supposed to be the new leader on offense? :-(
I really believe there HAS to be chemistry between the receivers and QB...I have yet to see that surface. It looks to me as if Driver has no confidence in his QB....Isn't his contract up soon?
