Driver should be frustrated. He hasn't played all that well in either pre-season game thus far. I thought he was supposed to be the new leader on offense? :-(
I really believe there HAS to be chemistry between the receivers and QB...I have yet to see that surface. It looks to me as if Driver has no confidence in his QB....Isn't his contract up soon?
I think it's the other way around...
the least a veteran receiver can do when his young QB puts the ball in his hands is catch the rock.
Very poor performance all around yesterday... BUT I notice no one is mentioning the Driver drop which might have resulted in a TD or at least a FG attempt OR the Lee drop that WAS a TD. Instead of 3 zip it's 14 zip and a completely different set of posts today. Not an excuse - no excuses for such a dismal performance at ANY time. Preseason or regular...
BUT next weeks game is just another pre-season game. CalValley, you're really ratcheted up by this aren't you? There's "perceived" blood in the water and the critics are startin' to get antsy.
I'M more concerned with the unsettled OL. Gotta wonder if Sitton is really the answer inside or whether it's just a matter of Spitz getting accustomed to his new position. Line play has to improve in the next couple of weeks.
Bottom line - lackluster performance, not the end of the world. Certainly no reason to throw ARod under the tundra.
Time for MM to commence a$$ chewing...

I am ratcheted up. This team hasn't been 0-2 in preseason since 1993! MM even says it is important to win in preseason. 34-6 to the whiners? That was a terrible performance and this preseason really does have meaning given the circumstances. Veterans approach the preseason differently, but Rodgers isn't and shouldn't be given he has no nfl starts. His play in the final two games will be an indication of what we can expect in reg season. He is doing the very things right now (even in Cin game) that made many people skeptical...he should have had an INT in last night's game that was dropped, so both sides couldn't catch his passes.
This Den game, when the first stringers play into the 3rd qtr, and after that awful performance will be telling and is indeed important. This is a team that overachieved last year and now has taken a step back at the most important position - they are young and cannot afford another piss poor outing. BTW, that D up the middle was terrible. And Collins bit so hard - AGAIN - on the underneath guy for that ~55 yard TD it reminded me of the Bears game last year. I have a feeling that guy will continue to tease throughout his career and never live up to potential.

I would expect a much better showing against Denver.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess you didn't watch the Broncos manhandle the Dallas starters in their game last night. The Offense marched right down the field on Dallas' starting defense for a TD. Their D stopped the Cowboys' right away and then drove down the field for another TD. They looked awesome on both sides of the ball, so I would expect another blow out for us, if MM plays the same type of plays with our QBs stuck in the pocket for about 2 secs until the rush gets there against revolving OLinemen.

No question on the dropped INT. Are you gonna tell me now that Bett never made a bad decision?
I notice you didn't mention the 2 drops that I posted. By veteran receivers.
It WAS terrible performance. By the team. But not by Rodgers. He made rookie mistakes - no question - but for all intents and purposes AR is a rookie. He WILL make mistakes. As Brett did, right up to his LAST pass as a Packer.
Collins is an IDIOT - you'll get no argument from me. This was a pi$$-poor outing, no question. But it's not the end of the world. OR the season.
Denver game is nothing. MM is aware of what needs to be done, and will react accordingly.
Relax CV - it'll all work out.

I saw zero pocket awareness, I guess the Favre spin out of the mess was underappreciated. 4 sacks in the first half, 6 in two weeks, and 2 potential INTs negate two drops, three knockdowns, longest pass 20yds on a screen to Morency. He played awful, as did the team, but 'it can be fixed'. I agree it's early, but the performance from the QB was deserving only of vegetables and fruit thrown with precision at him.
Not passing judgement on the season yet, but Rodgers judgement needs to improve. Truly this guy needs a few years on the field, I hope they are good years.

So last week he was OK - NOW he's road kill?

I will agree with Lamboo that early drops can change the complexion of the game rapidly and being only limited time to correct for the first team, the game may have looked worse that it was. However, regardless of drops, protection problems, etc. It is what it is. Four sacks in a little over a quarter of action cannot happen in the reg season. I said last week that I thought Rodgers looked pretty good, but the stakes are going up. The regular season will be here soon enough and the schedule is going to tough. We have to start looking better as an offensive rhythm. I don't quite see that yet. I have often posted that what Favre used to do PRE-SNAP was bascially lost on a lot of supposed good football minds on this board. There is a reason he took very few sacks in his career here. Although his achilles heel of throwing into coverage will always be there, he plays on instinct and is never afraid to make a throw.
I truly believe Rodgers is afraid of making a mistake and will in the long run, hurt his performance. Once you start thinking that way, you're already in a disadvantage. Favre did a tremendous job of taking HIS TEAM out of bad plays. Making protection calls to pick up blitzes, etc. Checking into a run, or vice versa. All things Rodgers will learn and do better, but obviously is not even in the league of Favre.
As I agree with Lamboo on many aspects of this team, I totally disagree that with him that McCarthy will figure all this out. I think you will find that he is a bit over rated. With lesser talent with the 49ers and Saints he was an awful offensive coordinator. With Favre he suddenly went 21-11 in reg season games and APPEARED to suddenly elevated his status.
This will a true test for the team. The schedule is brutal and offense looks real sluggish. And, I guess I just can't forget how poor of a game he called against the Giants that somehow we still had a very good chance to win. I will be the first one to admit I was wrong, but I think with McCarthy and the lesser talented football team with Rodgers I think we will see more of what we did in SF and NO. Wasn't he the guy that was suppossed to develop Alex Smith?

Lamboo posts are the most idiotic post on any message board period.... Look before Brett was traded, everyone was saying Aaron Rodgers was ready to play. Many of you said that he could beat out Brett Favre if they were to compete for the starting position. Lamboo said Rodgers was better than Favre over and over.
Aaron Rodgers has had 1000's of reps over that last 3 1/2 years. Most of these Reps were with the first team offense becuase we all know Brett did not practice much in the off seasons or inbetween regular season games. So with 1000's of reps this is the best show so far. Someone please tell me how long we have to listen to excuses as it relates to Rodgers play? 1 full seaon, 2 full seaons? How long?
As for Donald Driver, maybe we should now trade him to the Jets. Soon he will be the excuse for all you TT disciples and I am sure he will be to old etc etc so why not just trade him now.
This whole mess was started by the three baffoons and mark my words, it will get worse. Liars and cheaters never win in the long run.

Every game the Packers play is important. If the O-Line isn't fixed and Rodgers struggles with pressure, what do you think is going to happen in the regular season?
Don't you think that the Vikings Staff are watching each and every one of our pre-season games?
Teams D's were forced to respect Brett because his style of play that got him 275+ INTs was also the style of play that got him over 440 TD's.
Rodgers who is now the young punk and D's are going to throw the kitchen sink at him until HE CAN PROVE that by doing that he will burn them for yards and points.
Yeah...there are 11 guys on Offense, but the QB gets the ball first so its all his shoulders...getting points on the board and moving the ball down the field has always been and will always be on the QB's shoulders.
