    Weeks back in lineup

St. Louis - Ray Durham, who strained his right shoulder Tuesday night swinging at a pitch, is back out of the Brewers' lineup tonight in place of Rickie Weeks.

Otherwise, it's the same bunch taking on right-hander Adam Wainwright as the Brewers try to sweep the two-game series against the Cardinals.

    Here's the Brewers' lineup:

    2B Rickie Weeks
    SS J.J. Hardy
    LF Ryan Braun
    1B Prince Fielder
    RF Corey Hart
    CF Mike Cameron
    3B Craig Counsell
    C Jason Kendall
    LHP Manny Parra.

The Brewers are 4 1/2 games ahead of St. Louis and New York in the NL wild-card race. The Cubs already have beaten the Pirates, 2-0, today.

You have to hand it to the Pirates. They'll lose whichever way you need them to, be it a slugfest such as last night or a pitching duel today. The Brewers hope they'll continue to be compliant during a three-game series in Pittsburgh this weekend.

OR maybe Parra is just a rookie pitcher who is still struggling to find consistency as he and the hitters adjust and readjust to each other.  His innings pitched may have nothing to do with it.

im hoping they dont have an offensive let down today after blowing st louis out of the water yesterday, two days of ass kicking would be a good statement.

    Certainly.

But either way, the pitch inefficiency is still troublesome.

    radio silence:

There's nothing wrong with Parra's numbers throughout the full season.

He is the most valuable pitcher on our staff behind Sheets for the entire season, and Sheets and Sabathia since the trade.

But there is a distinct progression of his numbers, and there is a reality about how his inefficiency affects his workload and results during certain stretches.

Regression or not, by my standards his numbers are, at best, OK. A WHIP of 1.5 is pretty dangerous.

The point that incurred Robert's wrath was a statement that I wasn't too optimistic about Parra tonight. I am hoping he can get through 5 innings while keeping the team in the game.

I hear you on Parra's WHIP, wisblue. That's been a timebomb all season.

And I don't disagree with your sentiment given Parra's recent stretch.

It will be interesting to see if this rough stretch lasts 10 games like his first rough stretch, or if Parra still has enough gas in the tank to give the Crew two more consecutive quality starts sometime before October.

Keep in mind that the Brewers didn't exactly blow the Cardinals out of the water yesterday until very late in the game. For the first 6 innings they scratched out 3 single runs aided by some bloop hits and a horrendous fielding gaffe by Albert Pujols. Braun's HR in the 7th really created the breathing room and the 9th inning put things completely away.

If Wainwright is healthy I'm not expecting any 7 run innings. It would be nice to get a run or two on the board early again.

I really wish that pic had come through.

I edited one of the best Kapler-speedo muscle pics by censoring the speedo with a head-shot of Prince smiling in the dugout after a HR.

Not exactly what I was looking for, but thanks for putting that visual in my head tonight, jerk:)
