brewguru:It sounds like the Brewers are doing everything they can to get Gallardo ready for the playoffs.
And it's not Ned, the organization (re: Melvin) is the one who is organizing the comeback. He's not Dean Taylor, I don't think he'd do anything to damage Gallardo's career.
And Radio, have you ever watched Gallardo pitch? THAT'S why he is an option before those other pitchers you listed.
Fair points, Brewguru. Perhpas my skepticism is misguided, but I still feel a certain distrust to an organization handling young arms during a pennant race.
I have indeed watched Gallardo pitch, a lot -- a few times in person, including his debut. He is an excellent pitcher, with a strong set of fastballs, a good curveball, and a great penchant for mixing pitches and pitching backwards successfully.
His pitching skills are what lead me to skepticism about the organization orchestrating a return, and I'd much rather have that pitcher preparing to start in 2009 than jumping into the bullpen for 2008.
It's simply the fact that Torres, CV, Mota, and Shouse have each workled extensively in the pen this year, and their arms are used to the "up and down" usage in the pen. That's why I prefer their arms over YoGa -- regardless of YoGa's stuff.
But I can also see your point and I respect it, so perhaps you should just ignore my paranoia.
