I'm going to compromise on this one....
brewguru:
People are Cameron being resigned because there is no one in the system.
Ever hear of free agency? They have to replace someone in the lineup. They have to acquire a top-of-the-order hitter from somewhere.
This is true. They have to use one of the OF (probably center, but they could move Bruan or Hart there and then fill in a corner) 3B or 2B to get a high OBP player with decent speed for the top of the order.
Depending on who they can get for one of those spots will dictate what they can (or need to) do at any one position.
brewguru:$10 million for a low average/high power/above average defense is way too much.
That I disagree with. Cameron on a 1 year, 10 million dollar deal is a fine use of resources....
IF (and only if) they can fill the need I talked about above in other ways.
But if the right player comes along who to take his place and fits the other criteria, then you can pull the trigger.
Cameron is not the problem for this team. He was part of the reason they got better in the overall picture, so if they can fill the need in another way, brining him back makes perfect sense.
"Melvin may have gotten this franchise out of a hole, but it is painfully clear that this clown cannot build a playoff team. How many more years are you willing to let Melvin continue to trot a team that has no plate disipline, bad basrunning, bad late inning pitching, and contiually chokes when its on the line? Melvin has no clue when it comes to hitters and it shows. Melvin must go if this team is to ever makes the playoffs again.:"
