Who should be in the HoF........
....this is for all teams and players,not just Packers. Though I expect a lot of Packer names to be here.
Jerry Kramer and Fuzzy Thurston: Hornung in the HoF, Taylor in the HoF, Lombardi in the HoF, the most talked about play (Packer Sweep) was designed by Lombardi, ran by 2 HoF RBs and the whole play relied on the pulling Guards. However, the NFL has thought best to not let either Guard in the HoF. Gene Hickerson made it blocking for Jimmy Brown, Larry Little made it blocking for Larry Csonka, Delamielleure made it blocking for Simpson, but for some reason they don't want to add anymore from the 60s Packers. IMHO both need to be enshrined, but if they can only choose one, then Kramer deserves it. In 1962 Kramer was the place kicker for the Packers and in the NFC Championship he not only blocked for MVP Taylor, he kicked 3 FGS and an extar point in the swirling wind, in single didgit temperatures, which gave him 10 of GBs 16 points in a 16-7 win over the Giants.
Tobin Rote: Stats are hard to follow because with todays standards Starr, Unitas, Graham and a slew of other QBs wouldn't be in the HoF. I mention this because Rote was a better player than his stats showed. He lead the league in passing while with GB, even though they were one of the worst teams in the league. When he retired he held the recod for most yards rushing by a QB in a season, broke by Bobby Douglas, and most TDs rushing by a QB in a season (11), broke by Steve Grogan of the Pattriots. He also is the only player to be the starting QB and win an AFL & NFL Championship. He took over for Bobby Layne in 57 and lead the Lions to an NFL Championship, and then lead the 63 Chargers to the AFL Championship. In between time he also played in the CFL Championship and lost, but again he is the only QB to play in all three Championships. By todays inflated records and stats he doesn't look that good, but in his time he wss one of the best.
Jim Marshall: God I hate this, but yes a Viking needs to be in the HoF. He started in 1961 for the Vikings and was the starting DE for this team for the next 19 years. He played on some of the best defenses the NFL ever seen, an original member or the "Purple People Eaters". He may never have won a SB ring, but his team played in 4 of them and it was always the Viking defense that lead them there. Because they didn't keep sack stats prior to the 80s the NFL does not list his 127 sacks (determined by an independent sports fiirm). He does hold the NFL record for fumble recoveries with 29, most consecurtive games started with 270, and until Feagles (a punter) broke his record he played in 282 games. Even with Bretts record, you have to admire 270 games, where on every down he played he got hit or hit soembody and more than once in a play.
I could name more, but would like to know if anybody else has some. Again it doesn't have to be all Packers.

I don't think Fuzzy makes on his merits, but Jerry should. I've heard the tired rap that "We have too many Lombardi era Packers in already" and that supposedly he had less than stellar showings against Karras and Olsen (whom he had to play twice a season each for most of his career). Others are resentful of his status as author. Screw all that. He was named to the All-NFL 50 year team, and look at the results of the Packers in that era. Unfortunately, I suspect he'll never live to see that honor.
Tobin Rote. Interesting guy and interesting career. Not sure if he makes the HOF bar, though.
Jim Marshall. Even though he's a Vike, he deserves to be in. HOF voters have not been kind to Grant's Vikings. The consecutive game streak is awesome. He played probably closer to 225 230 as a DE, even back in the 60's. He should be in just for the "Wrong Way" TD/safety against the Niners back in '64, if nothing else. Classic play.

With reason, Marshall felt pretty stupid when he came to the sidelines. He said that HC Norm Van Brocklin came up to him and told him to cheer up, that it had been a pretty dull game up until then, and he finally did something to add some excitement. The Vikes went on to win, eventually.

Re: Who should be in the HoF........
Leroy Butler;
During his 12 seasons with the Packers, he recorded 953 tackles, 38 interceptions, 553 return yards, 12 fumble recoveries, 3 defensive touchdowns and 20 1/2 sacks. He led or tied for the team lead in interceptions in five different seasons. He was the first defensive back in NFL history to gain entrance in the 20 Sack/20 Interception Club.
Now thats HOF worthy!!!

I was going to ask if any players from the last two decades belong in the HOF other than White and Favre obviously. i could only think of Butler, maybe Sharpe and Woodson.

I was going to ask if any players from the last two decades belong in the HOF other than White and Favre obviously. i could only think of Butler, maybe Sharpe and Woodson. Funny, I think Sharpe should be a HoF no-brainer - up until his neck injury, his numbers are right up there ahead of everyone not named Jerry Rice. If not for injury, he'd have played at least another 3 yrs and gotten those catches/yds/tds that Brooks and Freeman put up - that would put him at 850 receptions, 10000 yds, and 100 tds. And maybe a Super Bowl ring, on top of it. Butler seems to be juuuuust short, IMO. I don't get the sense that around the NFL he was regarded as "hands down, arguably the best safety in the game" for more than a season or two - which is still damn good, just not quite there. Ron Wolf says Butler is more than worthy, though. Woodson hasn't had a HoF career, but with his production so far in GB he's making a strong late-career push. A productive career-prolonging switch to safety (he looks like he has another few years at CB yet) might really put him over the top. But yeah, it's kind of amazing when you look at GB over the "Favre era" - there aren't that many no-brainer HoF candidates despite the run as one of the league's flagship teams. Maybe Sean Jones gets in down the road, maybe Butler, no OL really got the plaudits (though I think Wahle was robbed in that regard), no stud LBs. None of the WRs after Sharpe were really good enough for long enough. How about Darren Sharper? He's going to have several Pro Bowl berths and nice int #s by the time he wraps it up.

Now thats HOF worthy!!! Again, I have been skeptical about Butler's HoF credentials. But seeing John Lynch's career numbers (not sure about the tackle #s): 1055 combined tackles (over 15 seasons, that's 73/yr, Butler was at about 80), 26-204 on ints, 16 fumbles forced, 9 FRs, ZERO tds, and 13 sacks.He did have 9 Pro Bowls to Butler's 4, but Butler was a 4-time All-Pro compared to Lynch's 2.
Basically, even with 3 FEWER years, Butler CRUSHES Lynch's numbers, and Lynch is promoted by many as a legit HoF-type guy.
