Has anyone heard anything about our manager yet?

I know there has been some talk on the threads about this, but has anyone heard any rumors or at least some sort of list who we are looking at?  I know some people have stated who they want but I would like to know who are the real possibilites.  I dont have much faith in any significant player changes so this is proabably the biggest story this offseason

    No.

The season's only been over for six days.  I doubt we'll hear anything about it before the World Series.

The most recent news I've seen was an article last Tuesday on the Brewers website, but that was more just about Sveum waiting to hear about his future, and in Haudricourt's blog on a Melvin extension on the same day.  It seems the intention is to extend Melvin's contract first before a decision is made on the manager.  I have to wonder, though, if Melvin is considering whether or not he wants to stay with the team after what happened with Ned Yost, and perhaps with how Attanasio may or may not feel about re-signing Sabathia.

     Nice post, Mikey.

I'd be willing to bet Melvin and Attanasio work out their differences.

As far as ownership coups go, that's not necessarily the worst.

Although the CC issue is certainly interesting and compelling -- Melvin has stated in the past that he has distinct feelings about not signing certain types of pitchers after age 28. I wonder if/how CC changes that....

Well, that's exactly it.  This is Milwaukee.  I mean yeah, if people (the media) cared about Milwaukee like people do with New York or LA or Chicago, then we'd probably be hearing a lot of talk.  But, it's still just the Brewers.  Everyone else cares about this team about as much as fans of this team care about Kansas City's.

I don't think Melvin should be extended. The offense he built has collapsed the last two seasons. If Mark is adamant about having Melvin here next year, then tell Melvin he has one more chance to fix the problems on the offense that he has now failed twice to do. If the offense collpases again, Melvin's gone.

How would you of done this?  Last year we spent more than we wanted to with 5 guys who are 25 or under.  If you dont think our young guys are any good, fine.  But I dont see what anyone could of done other than say Hart quit sucking in Sept.  In your mind who do you get?  Any money spent would of been less money for CC, etc.  Im sorry CPK but you need to worry if our young guys can cut it offensively, because no GM is going to greatly improve our team with this payroll

    I agree.

I think Melvin needs to trade Braun, Hall, and Hart, and build a more disciplined offense with guys that get on base and play situational baseball.

How about Weeks quit sucking for the last 3 seasons and Hall to quit sucking. I would start with getting Brian Roberts. Get rid of Weeks, and Hall. Trade Hart.  It is obvious Hall and Weeks can't cut it and am tired of hearing every year for the last 3 that this is the year Weeks gets it. I am tired of this team constantly strading runners in scoring position. I am tired of these free swinging hacks with no plate disipline. Melvin is responsible for this mess and it is about time he is held accountable for it. Withholding his extension and giving him the final year of his contract to "improve or else" is the way to go.

And of course a comment from Doug Melvins gay lover. A poster who is content with the team offense collapsing on a yearly basis. You and Einy just finish your 3-way with Melvin?

Re: Has anyone heard anything about our manager yet?

Hmmm, could the lack of news/talk about a manager be because our owner is contemplating getting a new GM?  If Melvin is on the way out wouldn't a new GM want to hire 'his own guy"?  Of course all this is speculation on my part.  Melvin may be waiting cuz he has his eye on an assistant on the staff of one of the 4 teams still playing....!

Why, exactly, should anyone give two sh!ts about anything you say when you throw out sophomoric insults like this?

I thought that might be the case, too, but Mark has told Haudricourt directly that he wants to extend Melvin's contract.  Melvin has only commented that they are "working" on it, and he's made no comment on the managerial position beyond wanting to interview Sveum a little more about his management style.  If anything, I would say Melvin's second guessing whether or not he wants to stay here if the owner might occasionally pull rank like he did with Yost.

I was only reponding to the shot Radio took at me. He couldn't debate the premise I put out there, so he mocked me. I mocked him back. If he actually wants to debate the premise I put out there that actually tries to have Melvin held accountable, I will. If he is going to mock me, I will mock back. He gets what he gives.
