We know we are going to have the 27th pick -
I am not going to look at picks after 2002 because we may not know yet, but going back to 2002 and before this is who was picked at pick #27.
2002 - Sergio Santos SS - never heard of him
2001- Alan Horne P- same
2000-Robr Stiehl-P same
1999- David Walling-P same
1998-Chris Ambres-OF-same
1997- Kevin Nicholson-SS same
1996- AJ Zapp-1B-same
1995- Shea Morenz-OF-same
1994-Jacob Shumate-P-same
1993-Marc Valdes-P-same
That's 10 years of busts. Doesn't look real promising. Looks like the top 7 picks are pretty solid, but after that it is areal crap shoot. Ryan Braun was the 5th pick, Marc Rogers was picked #5 (bust), Weeks picked #2 , Prince picked #7, and Sheets was picked #10. The moral of the story is don't think we're getting much help with a bunch of players picked more than likely 27th and later. Looking at past drafts the Brewers will be luck to get maybe one or two players that make it out of the 5 they get.
A couple of you wanted to argue that MLB Drafts weren't as much a crap shoot as NFL Drafts.
So here is the 27th pick for the same period;
2002 Mike Rumph- has been out since 2006, started 16 games
2001-Michael Bennett- star RB for the Vikes, injury 3,622 yards and a career average of 4.4 -currently with Carolina
2000-Anthony Becht-TE-Had several good years with the Jets, now plays for the Rams.
1999-Aaron Gibson -OL- Started some for the Lions, then ate himself out of the NFL.
1998-Victor Riley-OL- Started some, but was a bust
1997- Rae Carruth-WR-Was becomng a star, but then had his prego girlfriend killed and is serving a life term in Jail.
1996-John Michels-OL-TOTAL bust with the Packers
1995- Marc Bruener-was a solid TE for the Steelers for some time, nothing special.
1994- Jeff Burris-Was one of the better CBs before injuries took over.
1993-Todd Kelly DE-Bust
No stars, but at least all these guys contributed.
