Idk if you guys saw, but Evan Anderson's team Eau Claire North was on Sportcenter's Top 10 plays this morning.  A kid from his team hit a shot beyond half court at the buzzer (off of a missed free throw) to send the game in OT, which Eau Claire North ended up winning and advanced them into the tournament.. Pretty cool.

I hope the Anderson squad sneaks in through their sectional.  I'd like to get a first-hand look in Madison.

Anyone know about the caliber of competition Anderson is playing against or is he just another freakishly tall kid playing against 6-5 players?  Was his lofty recruiting status due to results on the AAU/summer circuit or strictly based on high school numbers?

As usual, Ganzer would know more, but here's my understanding: he was extremely polished at a young age (of course has massive size).  He had good hands, goot feet, and decent moves for a kid his size when he hit the rankings.  So he was a top-10 prospect.  Well, from what I hear, he just hasn't gotten that much better and other kids are catching up.  He's still very, very good, but he's that upside seems to be a little less now than when he was 16, which is why he has dropped into the 40s.

I think U Dub is right to some extent, but it's somewhat disconcerting, even with a packed lane, that he isn't getting double digit points and rebounds against kids much shorter and less skilled.

Mike Bruesewitz (Henry Sibley, Mendota Heights, MN) SR

Sibley (24-2) will play White Bear Lake (9-17) on Friday for the right to advance to the Section 4AAAA semifinals (final 32). Sibley is the top seed for the section and are currently on a 16 game winning streak. Bruesewitz scored 14 and 18 points in their two most recent games. Sibley is ranked 2nd in Minnesota 4A

Update:  Sibley defeated White Bear Lake, 85-53.  They advance to the final 16 against Stillwater (15-11) on Tuesday.

Evan Anderson (Eau Claire North) JR

EC North (15-7) with a 5 seed bucked Chippewa Falls (seeded 4th) 54-42 last Tuesday and the 1-seed Hudson 50-42 in overtime on Saturday. North will face the 2 seed Superior (19-3) in the Sectional semifinals on Friday night (final 32). North survived the game against Hudson by way of a ¾ court shot at the end of regulation to tie after Hudson missed the front end of a 1-1 free throw to seal it with 2.6 seconds to go. Anderson scored 6 with 10 rebounds. He scored just 4 against Chippewa Falls.

Update:  North beat Superior on Friday, 65-52.  Anderson scored 9 with 8 rebounds.  They will face the 2-seed out of the opposite bracket tonight for the right to go to state (Wausau East, 18-5)

    puddyellow:

    Vander Blue (Madison Memorial) JR

Memorial (21-1) defeated Sauk Prairie (13-9) 47-38 on Saturday to advance to the sectional semifinals (final 32) against 4th seeded Baraboo (17-5) this Friday. Blue scored 6. In the opener, Memorial easily handled 16th seeded Monona Grove (4-17) 71-55 with Blue leading the way with 24.

Update:  Memorial crushed Baraboo 71-41 to advance to the sectional final tonight against Waunakee (20-3).  Vander Blue scored a game high 29 points.

College FB Guru has no clue

I live in Bolinbrook and my school district is Naperville Central and have seen many games this season so I speak with first hand perspective.

Diamond Taylor is decidedly not white. He is a 6'4" 175lb guard that can play and will serve the Badgers well.

The reason his 23 pts didn't carry Bolingbrook to a victory is Drew Crawford a 6'5" swingman for Naperville Central put up 23 as well.  FYI Crawford is headed to Northwestern.  Naperville Central has a better cast around Crawford and pulled out the win.

I am happy with UW landing Taylor.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure cfbguru's post was dripping with sarcasm and directed at the idea that UW under Ryan is not recruiting players who maybe fit the mold of what some people see as "athletes".

I may have missed the sarcasm, but the rest of my comments about Taylor should encourage Badger fans.

Mike Bruesewitz has his team in the final 8 at the Target Center (Thursday, I believe)  He had 13 in the most recent win.
