Trade Redd/Ridnour for McGrady's expiring contract

    1.  The trade works

    2.  McGrady's $20M contract would be off the books next year!  This would give the Bucks $38M in 2010.

    3.  Rockets want McGrady out and they need a PG and SG.

    4.  McGrady could return to his glory maybe even have something to prove.  He would be in a contract year!

    5.  If this doesn't work, the Bucks get a top 5 pick.

Yes McGrady is injury phrone but so is Redd.  Now the only question is, would the Rockets make this move?  The whole Yao situation clearly will have an inpact on this decision.

I would do this in a heart beat. You get a T-Mac with a chip on his shoulder and you get fans at the BC, plus you get major cap space next off season works for both teams.

Why would they trade Redd for T-Mac??

Both players coming off major surgery.

Now why do you think all you guys are posting DO IT, great idea

    because its horribly one sided

I put a trade for Tmac but it was with redd and gadz. which now is a better idea with yao gooonnnnneeeee!!!

If redd and tmac are injured they just cancel out each other and they have reported that HOU want another shooter.

Get tmac on the court and trade before deadline. the bucks are sweeeeeeett!!!

The Rockets cannot bring back McGrady.  The fans do not like him at all and Redd would provide them with an outside shooter.  McGrady will be traded this off season and it's worth a shot.  McGrady's injury allows this trade to be considered.

They have already said Mac is lost for most of next year- that is a given. With Yao also a BIG ? You could just see them give their young guys more playing time and take the year off and gear up for 2010/11. For a team dealing with injuries to high profile players, I don't see them taking on Redd's contract for a couple more years.

isn't the worst trade idea, but don't see it happening.

In response to the Rockets trading Landry...why would they trade one of their young stars? Yao's career may be over,Artest will probably be gone and McGrady might never be the same. I'd think that the Rockets will build around Landry and Aaron Brooks.

why the hell wouldn't you do it? clearing 20 million in cap space is huge. michael redd is not a franchise player that you can build around to win a championship. our ceiling with him is maybe getting out of the first round. if we can move him for expiring deals and open cap space that would be beyond my expectations as i don't think anyone in the league is dumb enough to take on his contract after the injuries even for just two years. i doubt houston would even give this trade one thought, as they will be able to offer a marquee free agent a contract next summer with mcgrady's salary coming off the books

Re: Trade Redd/Ridnour for McGrady's expiring contract

It sounds like Houston has plans to just eat McGrady's contract and start fresh the following season.  There is uncertainty with the Yao situation, so it is unlikely they would look to add any money.

When the contract comes off the books, Houston would be an attractive FA location, so expect the Rockets to be players in next year's market.  Remember, no state income taxed in Texas, players care about that.
