Why is it that when one of you pontificates with negative comments about the Brewers, it is though it is coming from the Burning Bush.  But when someone who is an admitted fan of another team does the same, he is summarily dismissed?  I know I have read comments hear from guys quoting guys like Peter Gammons and the like on the Brewers.  Peter Gammons is not a Brewers fan and his comments are not ripped just because he is not. Can't I enjoy discussing baseball with other guys who might have a different perspective than I do on their team and mine without it starting World War III?  I don't just rip the Brewers because I am a Cubs fan like Quicksdraw does.  I believe the Crew is a serious threat to the Cubs winning the division.  I mean I got ripped for calling DeFelice Mike instead of Mark on another thread.  My point on it was that whatever his first name is, he is a journeyman pitcher, like Todd Coffey, and there are reasons why other teams have given up on them and why they make their ML debut when they are 31.  You know, like Bobby Scales on the Cubs.  Other Cubs fans thought he was the second coming of Joe Morgan.  Guess what?  He wasn't.  I like discussing baseball and this forum is a good one.  It is also the only one I participate in.  So keep calling me a troll if you wish but I would much rather talk about the merits of the Cubs and Brewers.

They are usually shot down too until they pull out the I am just a dedicated Brewer fan card and claim they are allowed to have opinions too.  They would also be universally crucified if they claimed Dempster definitely should improve because he isn't pitching up to his norm (4.17 ERA vs 4.5 career ERA) and that the Brewer shouldn't expect Looper to improve for whatever reason. 

It isn't Cubs fans that get panned around here it is guys that can't back up their assertions.  Then when it is a cub fan, he spouts off on why the Cubs are better than the Brewers and his assertions have huge gaping holes in them; they get called a troll.

Again, the answer is no.

I pretty much agree.  I'm really not sure how we're 5 games over .500 at this point.  I projected good years from Parra and Bush and still predicted the Brewers would finish .500.  We are 4th in the NL in terms of run scored so I guess that's the answer - that and maybe Hoffman far ourperforming my expectations...

And you are nuts.  I don't come to gloat about the Cubs for the sake of gloating about them.  I don't post all that often but when I do, it is not for gloating.  For instance, I didn't come on here last night and rip the Brewers when the Cubs beat them or rub it in anyone's face.  Ask any of the regulars.  Forget it though.  You guys aren't worth it.  And BTW, good debating technique.  When you can't refute what someone says with logic, just insult them.  Now I know how the Democrats control the state.  They use the same methods.  Enjoy the rest of the series.

Also, BTW, yes, I can be that stupid.  Are you saying because I root for the Cubs, I can't possible have a relevant opinion on other baseball teams?  Because if that is true, then wouldn't the same be said of you when you comment on teams besides the Brewers?  Hmmmm...

Like most Brewer boards, most of the Cubs boards toss trolls out on their a$$, from what I understand.

That is my entire point, if you read my other posts.   There ARE no good Cubs message boards.  If you want an example, look at the glog on CBSSports.com during a game.  You will find the most ridiculous assertions and opinions by Cub fans.  That is why I enjoy your board.  You guys, for the most part, know what you are talking about and do so in a really entertaining way.  Hey, I understand you hate the Cubs and want them to lose every game.  But you can't have a rational discussion about it?  That I don't understand.

Don't you guys have friends who root for teams that are your rivals or that you just plain don't like?  Maybe it is easier for someone from Chicago to understand because we have friends who root for the White Sox while we root for the Cubs.  During other seasons, though, we root together for the Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls so maybe since you don't have that in Milwaukee, you don't get how you can discuss baseball with a rival without resorting to name calling.

It's not even that, because not all of them do.

It's when they come here to:

1) Gloat.

2) Defend their beloved Cubbies from us evil Brewer fans

....that they run into trouble.

 

There are Cubs fans here that don't do that crap, and they're generally left alone.
