  • Re: John Halama

[quote user="brewhas28"] [quote user="Jim Breen"] It is difficult to be upset about signings such as these.  The guy has simply been pitching his tail off and deserves a shot.  The worst possible outcome is that he toils away in the minor leagues and never sees a big league inning, while the best case scenario is ...

Very interesting. It sees Angel Salome drop out of the Top 10 after dealing with a plethora of injuries.  I also suspect that Kentrail Davis' success in the instructional leagues spurred his uptick to #6. I also believe the fact that Milwaukee has three new-draftees in the Top 10 is a testament to how poorly many of the Brewers ...

Tom Haudricourt also tweeted:Brewers GM Doug Melvin has said he won't address an extension for Prince Fielder until he fills current needs. Probably Jan. at earliest.

  • Re: Derek Lowe

The latest report is that the Braves do not like Corey Hart as much as everyone believes (big shock). Writing off Derek Lowe would be a mistake, though.  His numbers have been regressing a bit, but he could still be a worthwhile pickup for the Brewers -- depending on the amount of the contract the Braves are willing to pick up.  I do ...

  • BA's Top 10 Prospects

Tom Haudricourt works with Baseball America on their annual Top 10 Prospect rankings. He was courteous enough to post an advanced copy of the composite rankings on his blog:1. SS Alcides Escobar 2. 2B Brett Lawrie 3. 3B Mat Gamel (doesn't qualify as rookie for MLB in 2010) 4. RHP Eric Arnett 5. C Jonathan ...

  • Round 'em Up: Friday 11.20.09

Teams are now free to negotiate with free agents.  Expect the hot stove to be heating up very quickly in the coming days. Major League News Tom Haudricourt has a "free agency primer" of sorts to kick of the true beginning of the hot stove season.  He mentions that Randy Wolf could be a popular target for the Brewers, ...
