[quote user="mikeyjay21"]I don't know why you think I'm taking this personally. It has been your words that Brewer fans have an irrational "rancor and b!tchiness" and would be so unappreciative and mindless that they'd ditch the team during a rebuilding effort, even right ...

I won't go into too deep of a political tangent here, but.. it's like the Republicans. Like Einey's Cheney-esque pre-emptive strike against our team's new leader before the season began..

Of course there will be upset fans. Just like (as you pointed out) there was with Sexson. And just like there was with Lee, and Cordero, and Sabathia, and even Overbay. These things happen, and they happen with every team.
The key is whether or not they're actually the smart moves to make, because that's what's going ...

You trade your expensive players before they become free agents (Sexson). You build through the draft (Fielder, Weeks, Braun). You find cheap talent through waiver claims and scrap free agents (Podsednik, Davis, Kolb). You turn lead into gold every now and then ...

You're placing too much of an importance on attendance when it comes to fan loyalty.
As long as you spout this drivel about Brewer fans being so short-minded that they'd turn on the team and not support the management during a rebuilding period ...

You're placing too much of an importance on attendance when it comes to fan loyalty.
Either that, or you're equating an insulting view of the intelligence and reasonability of Brewer fans with attendance. As if not wanting to spend $80 for you and your honey to watch a less-talented team lose is a bad thing. I guess only ...

RE: The Brewers turning into the Marlins if they win a WS and don't resign the core or they trade them away.
If the process helps the team and they know that the team won't be in a long funk, why worry about what people say?

[quote user="mikeyjay21"] It's reasonable to understand that more people would not want to spend the money to watch a losing team. But that's why you financially manage that drop-off in revenue with an appropriate reduction in franchise costs, most notably in salaries and payroll. ...
