That makes me wonder if it would have been better to redshirt him.

Yes and no - Yes, he did sign last night, but no, he is not a PG. He is an undersized 2G - fast, athletic, and plays a Jerel McNeal style of ball.

All of the recruiting services (Rivals, Scout, ESPNU) that I look at list him as a point guard, though one says that he is a "work in ...

Jim, is there any truth to the report on another blog that Reggie Smith has signed with MU? If so, based on the reports and the video I've seen on the Rivals site, he would be a perfect answer to my wish for a point guard in next year's class.

I'd like to see MU add a point guard for next year.
Projecting ahead to next year's roster, with Cubillan and Acker leaving, MU will need a point guard to back up Cadougan or to fill in if he can't return at full strength. With Buycks, DJO, and Blue, the shooting guard spot should be well covered, but I don't think you want any of ...
As far as the redshirt goes - no dice. He played. The 5-8 games you refer to is for a medical redshirt. A developmental red-shirt is gone when you hit the floor. I will verify, but pretty sure that is the rule.
Jim, I'm pretty sure you're right about that.
Do you think Williams' high school ...

From Todd Rosiak, here is Buzz's response to why Eric Williams didn't play last night:
"We have to find a group of guys that can compete on both ends of the floor, and give us a chance to compete in January and February, or even better, give us a chance to win a game in Orlando."
Sounds like Eric is deep in the doghouse.
He must either be in Buzz' doghouse, or they are planning to redshirt him, and he doesn't want him to play and hinder the ability to make that decision later.
Do you know how much a guy can play and still be redshirted? Williams did appear briefly in the Centenary game. Maybe Buzz is really ...

What's the story with E. Williams?

I always keep my expectations low for freshmen until I've seen them play. I've seen a lot of them (including some with pretty high recruiting rankings) who didn't look like much as freshmen, especially at the beginning of the season, but then turned ...

From my seats a generally shaky outing. MU really struggled with the zone at times, and sometimes didn't get back well on defense. The defense was also a little shaky, although UMES made some nice shots.
The second half went a little better. After subbing freely in the first half, Buzz went for an extended stretch with Acker, Cubillan, ...

Well, that's disappointing, but I guess not too surprising, that he stayed at home.
